And here is Joanna spinning the carded fleece into yarn. The loom was warped (with a lengthwise series of yarns) before the competition. It is the job of the three spinners to produce enough spun yarn to weave the shawl with weft. Sometimes the yarn is left as a single-ply and other times two strands are twisted together to make a two-ply. |
