Wayne is carder for the team. The carder prepares the raw fleece for the spinners. This is done with a pair of wool carders or a single 'flicker' brush. The purpose of carding is to open the wool locks and align the fibers. This makes the job of spinning go more quickly for the team's three spinners. Carding is the critical link between the shorn fleece and the spinning wheel.
